London is the most natural starting point for an AFCON 2027 trip. Nairobi is the easiest East African entry point from London — multiple daily direct flights on Kenya Airways, British Airways and others. From Nairobi you can connect easily to Kampala and Dar. London to Nairobi is around 8.5 hours.
From New York or Washington DC, Nairobi is reachable with one connection — typically via London, Amsterdam, Doha or Dubai. From Houston or Atlanta, similar routing. US passport holders can get East Africa visas on arrival or online — straightforward for all three host countries.
Toronto is the main Canadian starting point. From Toronto, the routing is typically via London, Amsterdam or a Gulf hub. Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa is often the most direct African airline option. Journey time is similar to the US — 17-22 hours depending on routing.
Dubai to Nairobi is under 5 hours — one of the shortest long-haul connections in Africa. Emirates and Kenya Airways both fly the route directly. From Dubai you're geographically close to East Africa and the trip logistics are relatively simple. AFCON 2027 will be extremely popular from the Gulf diaspora.
The East African Tourist Visa (single application, covers Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) is available for many passport holders. Check current availability for your specific passport. It significantly simplifies multi-country AFCON travel.
Each country has its own currency: Kenyan Shillings, Ugandan Shillings, Tanzanian Shillings. USD is widely accepted across all three. ATMs are available in all major hotel and shopping areas. The Rahacards AFCON 2027 Card handles local currency across all three countries.
